Personal Home & Vitae

Apart from being a well established name in artist's-books making around the world, he is mainly a writer of chamber music, and music for carillon.
Joop Visser published articles on the subject of artists-books and the Dutch printing tradition.
Since 1965 he had exhibitions in Europe and America.
In 1980 he started to have public concerts in Holland, Germany and Austria.
From early on in his career he worked as an artist in graphic workshops and as an artist in residence in museums, at biennales and such in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and England.
He is also a maker of glass windows and ceramics.

Enkele bladen uit de eerste schetsen voor voorslagen voor de uurslagen, van 5.30 u. tot 24.00 u. voor het carillon van het stadhuis van Dokkum.
De voorslag is de oudste traditie die tot de beiaard muziek behoort. Het is de korte melodie die aankondigt dat er 'zo dadelijk' enkele slagen volgen die aangeven hoe laat het is, om zo de eerste slag niet te missen of anderszins in verwarring te geraken bij het tellen.

Joop Visser heeft zijn eerste schreden op weg naar het serieus schrijven voor beiaard gemaakt met de 'conziones voor beiaard' die werden gepubliccerd bij de Drukkerij Douma Dokkum Kalender van 2002.
